Tri Five 55 56 57 Chevy Gassers

HUGE collection of Tri Five Gasser photos!!

This is a collection of tri five Chevy Gasser style cars shown for reference. Some are the real deal, some are later era Super Stockers or "Street Freaks", some are modern renditions and some are just a mess, but they are all cool in their own way if you dig these vintage cars.

There is no intent to profit from these photos. If you see a photo that you have taken and would like me to add credit for you as photographer, please indicate the photo number (not the actual name of the file) and I would LOVE to provide a credit for your fabulous shots.

Likewise, if you see your photo and prefer not to have it added to this collection of reference material, please note the photo number and I will regrettably remove it.

PLEASE email your personal gasser photos for inclusion via anderegypt@aol.com Especially loved are old family photos. Send them in!! COMMENTS WELCOME!!!

Leonard Yankey's son Blane lives in Nokesville, VA and is also a premier engine and car builder today. Leonard's brother Larry who drove this car also lives in Nokesville down the road from Blane. Blane and his son Devin campaign a Pro Street car (67' Chevy Nova) which runs in the 5.90 bracket at 1/8th mile tracks throughout the area. This beautiful car that they built can be seen in a featured article in the Dec. 2013 issue of RPM magazine. Both Blane and Devin are following the Yankey tradition with the race cars they have and drive.

    Don &Gary Roung,s gasser 1963
I believe the other Anglia belongs to Gary,s son Chris and is in storage.I remember when they got it from out west.It was a nice car and it could be seen at several cruise nites mostly driven by Don....Gary was a member of the Piston Pushers car club in Brantford.as I still am. I knew both Gary and Don well....The old A/G car was at our 60th Anniversary car show on Sunday past, car still has the name on it but no motor. The new owner says he wants to put a small block chev back in it, a 389 cu.in injected motor just the way they ran it before going to the big block motor.

This picture told a story. While to my friend Tim Bryan was telling me about rubbing the paint off the drivers door made us realize, that he was the owner of the "The Great Pumpkin" 1957 Chevy 210 Drag Car from California. It now is in Linden, Michigan and he is going to leave it as "The Great Pumpkin".

I can't make the pictures go on. I will try again in a few days.
This picture told a story. While my friend Tim Bryan was telling me about rubbing the paint off the drivers door made him realize, that he was the owner of the "The Great Pumpkin" Gasser 1957 Chevy 210 Drag Car from California. It now is in Linden, Michigan and he is going to turn it into "The Beast" with the Tasmanian Devil eating a pumpkin on the trunk lid. The car is at Soja's Collision in Linden, Michigan getting restored. It has had the rear quarter panels brought back to factory stock by the previous owner. Tim Bryan updated the 9.3 Old rear axle with a 12 chevy posi rear axle and updated it with a 505 horse power 454 crate engine. It will soon be a street machine wearing a coat of black paint. (The original color) It will always be able to be found seeing, that I'm listing it's vin number, with   a picture on of it. Now I hope you all know the door jams were never painted orange and have been black the original color all this time. I sending a few pictures an and short movie of "The Great Pumpkin" in.

I have the 1957 Chevy Gasser "The Great Pumpkin" in my shop getting restored right now. I live in Linden, Michigan. The owner is, Tim Byran from Linden, Michigan and has replaced the rear end with a GM 12 Bolt Posi. He has also replaced the engine with a 500 horse power 454 Crate engine. This car has zero rust on it and is a fun job to restore. All the suspension has been rebuilt. The owner has lowered the front end the the owner before present owner had the rear quarter panels brought back to the factory stock look. The owner wants us to paint it the original color, which is black. Jeff Soja is doing all the body work and painting with the help from his brother Ted and Dad Bob Soja. I thought, that I would give a update on the location of the 57 Chevy Gasser "The Great Pumpkin". There will be pictures posted of the processes at a later date. Today's date is, June 28th, 2014.

    Sincerely
    Soja's Collison(Bob Soja owner)

    ats a nice
Is this car from the Chicago area? I remember a car identical to this as a kid. In the summer of 1968, it was parked at a Standard station on Washington Blvd. in River Forest(?) My dad drove a bus route past it and would drop me off so I take a closer look and get hot dogs fron the stand across the street. If this is the same car, It put a huge influence on me. I used to try to draw it in school. I now own my own 57 Chevy and helped a buddy build a gasser like this a few years ago. I would sure like to know what happened to this car and get more info on it. Thanks for the pick and the memories!

Steve, My uncle used to have a 57 Chevy Named Draggin Mouth that he kept at my father gas station in Oak Park (corner of Lake and Ridgeland) around that time.  I'm still looking for that car myself.  It was the reason why I love drag racing today....
