This photo is a shop in Helmsdale on Dunrobin Street which is no longer there. I am told there is a Leisure Centre there now!
The sign says W.M. Sutherland, Boot & Shoemaker and was owned by William Sutherland who is probably (but not confirmed) the gentleman second from the left. The woman is probably (not confirmed) his wife.
William's son, John, took over the business when his father died. John seemingly was quite a character and walked around Helmsdale reading poetry and Shakespeare! John's sister, Christine Sutherland, then took over the business after John.
I have a John Sutherland in Golspie who is the grandson of the original William Sutherland who has a copy of the photo but it is also blurred but the sign is readable. John got the photo from a now deceased relative in Brora.
