Hi peeps. I've been out of commission for a minute, but this sister-journalist had to see her way clear of the election cycle. Here are a few random pics from sometime in the summer until now. Enjoy!

I'm back. Hope everyone is having a happy spring. I've been super busy. The Legislature here is about to let out (Thank You God!), and I got a new job (same job, just working for someone else) (TYG, again). Enjoy the pics. There will be more.

A year ago today I put myself in the capable hands of the ladies at Afrodisiac in Atlanta and walked into my napptural life. Henceforth and forever more the third Saturday in February will be my Independence Day!

I'm going on a protective style challenge until my nappiversary in February. I'll still visit fotki friends, but I won't do any updates, since I won't be wearing my hair out until February. My goal is to wear no out styles throughout the winter months. I'll only take my hair down to wash and condition, then immediately back into twists.

Since Alabama's State Legislature goes back into session in February, my hair might be out to celebrate my anniversary and then back into another PSC until July 2008 because I'll be too busy to mess with it.

But keep checkin' on me!

Updates are coming soon. I've been true to my word and kept my hair in PSs through the summer. It's not so much a challenge, as my twists and twist outs are my signature style.

Since I'm turning 28 this month (Sept. 13) I think its time to turn it up a notch! Stay tuned and I'll show you what I mean!!

October addendum: I was going to do some color, but that semi-permanent stuff only dyed my hands, not my hair. :o(

Updates are coming...I'm in that home stretch for finishing my master's degree so I've been really remiss in posting new pics, but they're coming.

I've been on a protective style challenge since the beginning of May, and plan to keep on until just before my 10 year high school reunion in October. I know that's a long time, but I'm determined.

PSCs work, my hair is growing like crazy!!! Watch here and I'll prove it.

I've been natural for about six weeks now and my hair is growing at about the rate it did when I was relaxed. Not too much, not too little, just right so that I know it is growing.

Surprise! I BC'd!! Thank you all so much for your support and words of encouragement over the last five months, it's truly been a blessing.

I am not my hair...I'm coming out...set me free why don't you babe..my themes for the next year. I've decided to transition for as long as I can stand it. I'm not against short hair (been there, done that), but I want to see the naps overtake the relaxer.

Maxin' and relaxin: Why didn't somebody set me free sooner? I did this for 17 years, non-stop!! Being natural wasn't even on my radar until maybe the last three years. I kept saying when I turn 30 maybe, then I thought about it--life's way too short, do it now.

In the beginning, God created naps and HE said that naps were GOOD! These are pics of a nappier me and some people I truly love a lot--nappy and not.
