    Randy, I'm not sure about this one. I think it mightnot be M. opercularis, but the very similar Black-waved Flannel Moth - Lagoa (Megalopyge) crispata. See http://www.bugguide.net/node/view/3321

    Southern Flannel Moth - Megalopyge opercularis, is very similar, but has straight fine white lines over dark areas, not wavy lines. See:

    Ironically, it was your photo that set me looking for the Southern Flannel Moth--I had see the Black-waved Flannel before. Moths can be difficult.

    I was stung by the puss moth caterpillar yesterday. Does anyone know if the moth also stings?

    This is a Southern Flannel moth, Megalopyge opercularis.
    Family Megalopygidae.

    Hi, searching today I found this is probably from family Limacodidae. Could it be Tortricidia testacea? That's my guess...
