I am currently growing out my perm... However, I don't want to do the BC. I am on a spiritual journey to natural beauty/rastafari. It was great viewing your page on your natrual hair journey and inspirational.... i don't want to cut my hair yet... because i am still singled and many men would not understand.... "my dating" life would drastically change!" However, I am growing out my perm through buns and cornrows. When i have a good length... i will begin sister locs. I currently have a lot of hair breakage at the nape of my hair and my edges are starting to thin. Do you think when I grow my hair out natural... that these areas will grow back? Do you have any tips during my transition?

I happened upon your naturalfreedomjourney.com site today which documents your initial "Big Chop" in February '01. Looking at your plight has given me the courage I needed to embark on the same Journey. I was due to get my perm trimmed back today but looking at your pics has inspired me to get the "Big Chop" as well. My hair is short so I too will be wearing a TWA. Hopefully it won't seem too drastic and I go into shock...lol... Anywho, thank you so much for sharing your journey with the world. Your locs are absolutely BREATHTAKING. I too will document my journey in hopes that I will inspire someone as you have inspired me.

    Take care,
    Stella

LOVE SELF FIRST!!! The rest will follow...

You are truly an inspiration. i made what I thought was the big cut knowing full and well my index length hair was still too straight. In the midst of reading your story I decided to cut it all off. Once i have hair again I will definitely get locs. thanks for sharing your story

    hi:

your journey has been a blessing to me. Today, my hair looks like yours did 5 years ago. I just got my hair twisted and i wanted to take them down but i am going to try and stick it out. Believe it or not I have been trying to get to this point for about 4 years. Making the decision to go natural is a tough decision. Society puts alot of pressure on us to stick to the European way of doing things. You have proven to me that it can be done and that it is worth it !! When I saw the t-shirt that was the icing on the cake.

    Be Blessed!!
