I am undertaking a hair hibernation challenge that I have set for myself for the next 6 months. I will be hiding my hair until December. My hair is quite thick so I need to put it away before I attack it with a pair of scissors. I am on a new nautural? hair journey and I am trying to resist the temptation to tex-lax, but the single strand knots are killing me!

I will be charting the health and length of my hair this year. I suffered a major set-back in January when a trip to the salon ended in disaster for my hair:( I am still getting over the hair trauma lol!! I have been resting my hair ever since, I have been co-washing almost daily oiling my scalp and giving it a good massage nightly. I deep condition with henna mixed in my conditioner every 2 weeks.

I plan to weave my hair for my own hair-growth challenge for at least 5 months at the end of July. I am certain I can get at least 3 inches or so by doing this. So let the growing begin, (I have learnt the hard way, not to ever trust my beloved tresses to any woman's envy ridden hands again!) I should have been nearing waist-length now, but its back to MBL by December!

I have started my own haircare company called ROOT2TiP.

My inspiration to do this started 5 years ago, I suffered with hair-loss due to a scalp condition had and I began to mix up oils to help me regrow my hair.

I then took pictures of my hair growth using the oil, see my old album: www.fotki.com/salheaven which was called the ROOT Energizer and I was amazed at the results.

Friends and family then began to request this oil, and I started to sell it on the hair boards, through Fotki and locally.

My daughter who was a baby at the time was born with a million different allergies and also had really bad eczema from head-to-toe, her hair was a rusty brown colour so it always looked dry!! So I beagn to mix up a leave-in conditioner for her using a store bought leave-in and natural oils, as the stuff in the local hair shop was no good! Soon after her hair beagn to thrive, and I realised I needed to create a product range for other children like her, as parents would ask me for my leave-in conditioner! I started a range called Kinki Coili Kurli for kids with Afro and mixed race , Biracial hair.

God has been formulating with me for the past 5 years, he is my business advisor and speaks to me clearly about most things I do.

I learnt so much on the hair boards LHCF and also from Fotki albums, I managed to grow my hair to waist-length and tex-laxed it then started over again, and I am still on my hair journey now!!
