I grew up 40 feet from the tracks in Percy IL. All day and all night the IC would come by. Going back and forth from the mines. I love the IC and the IC will live on. Thank you for showing these pictures.
Excellent!! These photographs bring back memories from the days when I rail fanned the ICG around Hattiesburg, Jackson, Vicksburg, Meridian, and Yazoo City back in the early to mid eighties.
I love trains for a hobbies and watching them passing by and know what each freight car for.I watched trains when I was a little boy and still do. I would like to work for the ICRR co. I would like to work in the train yard to be a computer operator.Write me @ this address below Thank you!
You have some great IC/ICG photos here. Do you have any more that are not posted? I've been collecting IC/ICG photos for a while and have about 2,200 on disk if you interested in trading any.
I am interested in the volume of activity in the Rives/Union City/Fulton area. I will be going to Martin in the near future and am interested in the amount and type of traffic on the CN/IC. I have asked this question at least twice on the Yahoo Memphis group and have yet gotten an answer. I guess they just ignore the line north of Memphis. Maybe its not urban enough.
My husband has work for the railroad all of our married life. He is going to retire next month. We have two sons and both of them have been trying to get on with the railroad since they got out of school. The youngest finally got on last year and the oldest is still trying. So you can see why I Love the railroads. You have alot of good pictures keep up the good work.
First of all great pictures, I'm from DuQuoin IL. but I'm currently enlisted in the US Coast Guard on a cutter in New London CT. I lived about 1 mile from where IC's Centrailia,E. StLouis and Eldorado Districts came together, and I spent from age 14 to age 19 hanging around the yards and just having a blast. The SD20 is special to me. I was lucky enough to get a cab ride while train ESCE worked a local industry loco 2024 happened to be on the point that day, SD20s became my favorite locos of the IC. I really miss those days. Keep up the good work.
I'm a fan of the Illinois Central R.R. Because my father retired from this railroad in 1987, In Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Would you have any photos from the Iowa regin.
Excellent pics Campbell. I'm originally from the Lakes area and grew up on the ICG Kentucky Division around this same era. I currently model the ICG in N scale (circa 1983). Feel free to email me.
Many of my IC/ICG photos from that era can be seen at: www.icgphotos.com (under Archives; Chad Cowan photos)
I have enjoyed looking at your IC photographs. I live in Marion, KY on the old IC line from Princeton, Ky. to Blackford Ky. It was removed in 1999.
I am asking permission to download the photograph ICG 2000 SD20 Locomotive produced by the Paducah shops. It will be used only for my personal use and not for $ profit of any kind. Also in the same manner I would like to download the photo of the IC train coming across the Thebes Bridge at the Ohio that is also one of your photographs. The IC crossing the Thebes Bridge is rare. Of course the IC use to run right under the bridge.
