South Florida relies heavily on water. Native flora and fauna depend on a cycle of tropical summers and crispy, dry winters. An early dry season this year is leaving much of the state in drought conditions. Water bodies shrink, and plants and animals are forced to share dwindling resources. The residents of South Florida are also affected. Prudent water management at Lake Okeechobee in Central Florida means easy living for those south of the massive lake.
