Uzbekistan - The heartland of the ancient Silk Route

Silk from China and spices and precious stones from India were traded through Central Asia, on a regular basis, from about 200 B.C. Names such as Samarkand, Bukhara conjure up images of fairy tales that start with 'Once upon a time...'

A newly married girl in Samarkand, Uzbekistan

Newly married Uzbeki girls wear such heavily brocaded dresses for quite a few weeks after the wedding. The newly married bride also bows twice to elders, especially friends and relatives, when she meets them in public places. This is considered good etiquette.

I'd love to include some of the pictures on my site (with your name and link, of course), so my American friends & colleagues can see. Would you mind? By the way, here's a link to my wedding pic: http://public.fotki.com/-Inesska-/celebrations/my_wedding/wedding_day/reception/img1152.html

You've captured a wonderful expression on her face - very happy, very pleased with herself, no shyness and more than willing to pose for your camera. Beautiful.
