Essex Steamtrain & riverboat ride - Gary and Peter come to CT for a visit

Gary from New Jersey and Peter from the Netherlands came and stayed a couple of days with me during the 4th of July holiday.

These pictures will be of what we did on Friday the 4th of July at the 1892 historic Essex Station and Steam Train and then aboard the Becky Thatcher Riverboat cruising up the Connecticut River - then we went on to Gillette's Castle and Goodspeed Opera House along the river.

Pictures from Thursday will have to come from Gary and Peter of what they saw on our tour of Yale University. I didn't have my camera with me (oops) but they loved what they saw.

We did get to see a couple of fireworks late that night back in the New Haven area but arrived too late to see the entire show...we had a fantastic couple of days despite that.

  • From this shot angle it looks like the Gillette Castle is made of Ginger Bread or something...but actually it was local stone, I think... Gary
