Yale Marks 308th Graduation
On Old Campus on May 25, President Richard C. Levin ’74 Ph.D. officially conferred 2,868 degrees. Yale alumni U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton ’73 J.D., social entrepreneur William Drayton ’70 LL.B. and artist Richard Serra ’62 ’64 M.F.A. were among the 10 distinguished individuals who received honorary degrees during the ceremony. Also honored were author John McPhee; liberation theologist Gustavo Gutierrez; educator and former Yale provost Alison Richard; composer Sofia Gubaidulina; biomedical researcher Leroy Hood; economist and former Yale professor Thomas Schelling; and dancer Bill T. Jones. During the weekend, Christopher Buckley ’75 spoke to the Yale College seniors at Class Day.
