This will be the second stop on this trip . . a first time ever in Amsterdam for me. Still not sure of the time allowance but this is a great stop for Joanna - her Mom was born here. Well, our time here was a lot shorter than we had anticipated. Not much we could do....sorry Peter....maybe next time.

I went to Freeport, in the Bahamas for Christmas one year. It really is beautiful there. It was a birthday gift from an ex boyfriend.

Traveling south of the border down Mexico way was great. The blue/green waters are beautiful in Cancun and the ruins of Tulum great to walk around in. This is where the movie "Against All Odds" was filmed so maybe some of you will recognize the scenery.

I just found more photos from this trip and scanned them in. I tried to brighten some of them up by adding some color to the sky...

The third country to visit on this tour - going to Cologne, Bonn - a river cruise down The Rhine and traveling thru the Black Forest. We will be staying in Heidelburg.

Once crossing the Corinth Canal we head across The Peloponnese (Island of Pelops). From beautiful mountains to valleys of cypress trees and citrus groves, this was an absolutely beautiful area to travel.
We went to Mycenae to see palace ruins, the Theatre of Epidavros (known for remarkable acoustics) the ancient City of Corinth.
We saw Treasury of Atreus, the Beehive Tombs, Lions Gate, and Agamemnon's Palace.
The photos here are from (3) days of my trip to Greece that I thought were gone forever. Hope you can enjoy seeing what I saw.

This area deserves its own small album because this is the last city on The Island of Peloponnese before we crossed this beautiful bridge back to the mainland of Greece. Once back on the mainland we traveled to Delphi and north to Meteora.

Before arriving in Delphi we stopped at a most beautiful coastal village called Itea along the shores of The Ionian Sea. I do have a couple of photos from there that I will post along with the one I took for Scott (Mercury 7) with his name written in the sands. He wanted to go to Greece too! Then the photos will show Delphi on the slopes of Mount Parnassus, Home of the Oracle and then while I walked the Sacred Way to the Sanctuary of Apollo.

I have a tendency to wander around with my camera while the guide is telling the story of the site so if anyone knows proper names, feel free to add to the comment space.

This album will start with the city of Athens - where I began my journey. I will try to keep things in order as they occured and as I traveled from place to place. There are a few photos from a one-day tour to the islands of Poros, Hydrea and Aegina. Photos are also from an evening in a Greek Taverna in Plaka where we had professional dancers entertain us while we dined on traditional Greek food.
The last photos in this album will be of the Corinth Canal as we cross over to The Peloponnese (Island of Pelops).

This is where we stayed overnight so we could spend a full day at the magnificent monasteries of Meteora.
The hotels we stayed at were beautiful, comfortable and the staff couldn't be more helpful to all of us.

Traveling to Italy in 2001 was the first time I had been there. Here is some of what the beautiful city of Florence looks like. There is so much art that it is impossible to see on a first visit.

Taking a boat across the Bay of Naples to the Isle of Capri. Such a beautiful island to spend the day on. After leaving the Isle of Capri we headed to Sorrento, then we began to travel south along the Amalfi Coastline to the tip of Italy and crossed by ferryboat over into Sicily.

To walk amid the ruins of Pompeii is something one would never forget. To see Mt.Vesuvius in the background and know that volcano caused the destruction of an entire city and people is amazing.

This is my first trip to Italy starting in Rome at St.Peters Basilica where Pope John Paul II was giving mass. Afterwards we went on to the Colosseum, the forum and the ruins of old Rome. Then we headed north to Pisa.

I enjoyed being in Rome so much the first time, I had to go back a year later. It has so much to see, I'll have to go back yet again. It's a marvelous city to vacation in.

These photos were taken on a cold and stormy day...and with that said, Venice is still a magical and beautiful place to visit. We were not allowed to go on gondolas because the water was so rough.

London was the first place I visited on the other side of the Atlantic. There is so much history and the people are really cool. A really great city to visit and shop in.

This is the beginning of my trip. This is a first time to London for Joanna who will be traveling on this tour...she is a co-worker at Yale University.

The fourth country on our tour - we stay in Lucerne and visit the covered Chapel Bridge along the River Reuss and the Lion Monument. The shops are wonderful to shop in too. Plenty of time to take a lake cruise or the cog-wheel railway to the summit of Mount Pilatus. I think the Mt Pilatus excursion was one of the highlights of the entire trip. How amazing to be in The Alps and be in a snowstorm.
So much fun...

I am finally getting the chance to head to Canada to view the fantastic sites of Niagara Falls - I am also going to the Pillitterri Estates Winery while there - plus all the fun things like Maid of the Mist, Journey Behind the Falls, White Water Walk, the Skylon Tower with its Observation Deck and the casino.

I was in Paris for just seven days and did a few things - the weather wasn't the best but I did the best I could. I will try to edit and label all the pics....it may take a few days....try using the slideshow since there are so many shots....

We finished our tour in Paris, France and I will celebrate my birthday here.

The camera I used on the river cruise gave me problems and I was disappointed with the outcome of those - but I have put in just about every other photo I took using both cameras and I hope that at least one or two of these will give you an idea of all we saw. We really had a great time visiting Paris, France.

This island is full of wonderful people, food and dancing. From Taormina to Agrigento, Ortygia Island and Palermo - this is a most beautiful place to visit. A very colorful island with very warm weather.

This valley is in Agrigento, Sicily...So beautiful and soooo old.

Here are the beginning pictures of being in Seville - the Hotel Macarena in the center of town and later in the afternoon we went on a rivercruise on the Guadalquivir River then onto the fantastic Flamenco dancing before a wonderful dinner. From Seville we headed to Granada and the La Alhambra Castle and beautiful gardens

We've been traveling in Spain for a week and now arrive in Barcelona. This is our last city before the tour ends. We travel to the docks for a wonderful seafood dinner, we go to the Temple of the Sagrada Familia created by Gaudi and we visit his museum and gardens. I shopped on the Las Ramblas (the most famous boulevard in all of Spain) and bought cheese, wines, and olives to bring home.
This album ends with my flight back to New York -- it was a marvelous vacation.

This album shows the Don Quixote reststop along the highway heading south to the town of Cordoba where we visit the Mosque of the Caliphs.....amazing mosque that was 1/2 Christian and 1/2 Muslum. The difference of religions is easily noticed but to think of two totally different religions under one roof....not something that could be done today.

We stop at a small town along the Mediterranean on our way to Barcelona. The town is called Peniscola and most of the group went up to a castle, but by now I needed to be along the water instead of another castle....

Flying from New York to Madrid - these will be the beginning photos of my trip and I will try to identify them as I go along.

I took a lot of pics so I will be needing a bit of time to get them all in and I really want to put them in the order in which they were taken.

I hope you will enjoy some of what you see as I had the best time ever taking them.

It was a great vacation, the country is so beautiful and the people were really friendly. The foods delicious and the wine so smooth. Another thing, everywhere was so clean - no joke - very clean. Very impressive !

The people I traveled with were fun and we had many laughs along the way - I've made some friendships that will last for a long time.

The legendary site of the Holy Grail - this was the first half of the day.
Afterwards we left for the Park Guel (Antoni Gaudi's Alice in Wonderland City Garden) - totally amazing.

This city is so diverse - the gypsies live in caves along the outskirts of the city and the modern architecture in the city mixed with the old is amazing. Sorry, no other words describe it for me properly.
