Josh Drye Band is a new group in Chapel Hill, and began playing shows in August 2009. Previously I'd seen Josh Drye at Jack Sprat Cafe's open mic night, along with friend Wylie Hunter, where they each began honing their art publicly. Josh's band stretches into previously unexplored areas from mainstream rock. When they were once billed as "Vaudeville rock", I had to nod at the apt categorization; they fit that description as well as any other. As far as the band's name, I'm not sure which if any of the current names will stick. This show was billed as "Josh Drye and The Slightly Moist" (drye, moist). Usually I've seen "Josh Drye and The Revolution", though I think I've come across a 3rd name as well. Currently he has no website I can publicly pin down. If you were desperate to contact him, maybe try his friend's page at http://www.myspace.com/wyliehunter . They share some of the same band members. Also playing this show were The Toddlers, and SNMNMNM in a reunion show of sorts, with several invited friends joining them.
