De-Badging
Jul 27, 2004

A hair dryer and dental floss go a long way. I removed the factory badges from the rear end of the car making for a cleaner look.

TTDA Install Pics
Nov 23, 2004

Installing a Schwing TTDA (Twin Tube Dynamic Airbox--Cold Air Intake) in my TT and a Schwing TTDA and BAMM (Big Ass Mass airflow Mod) in MoBlueTT's car.

The TTDA is a huge improvement over the factory airbox/filter. The factory airbox and filter are very restrictive, and the air makes two 90 degree bends in the airbox...very inefficient. This definitely allows the engine more free breathing room with it's twin air feeds and insulated box keeping the air going in relatively cool.

Neuspeed 19mm rear anti-sway bar install.
Dec 30, 2004

Replacing the stock 14mm rear anti-sway bar with the Neuspeed 19mm rear anti-sway bar.

This mod is probably the best dollar to smiles value. For $169, the natural understeering tendency and body roll of the vehicle is nullified bringing more neutral cornering tendencies.

Forge 007P Diverter Valve Install
Jan 5, 2005

Replaced the OEM Bosch diaphragm type DV with the Forge 007p piston type DV in preparation for a Revo ECU flash. It seems the stock DV does not perform as well on the car when chipped.

Initial impressions are smoother transitions through the gears especially from 1st to second.

Revo ECU Flash
Jan 9, 2005

Took the TT to Renn-Art in Des Plaines, IL to get the revo 93 octane chip.

Revo's numbers say that you go from 225hp/207 lb/ft of torque to 260hp/284 lb/ft of torque.

First impressions are that the boost comes on much stronger and much sooner and it accelerates much harder than stock in all the gears. Even in 6th gear at highway speeds, the car pulls extremely hard.

Boost Machine Installation
Feb 6, 2005

Consists of (2) valves. One relief valve that controls boost onset and a regulator valve that sets max boost. Fine tuned it is hitting 25-26 psi max boost and settling in at 19-21 psi under WOT.

Bosch 4.0 Bar Fuel Pressure Regulator Install
Feb 10, 2005

This mod is a by-product of the BAMM mod above. Because of more air going through the engine, the stock 3.0 bar FPR does not provide enough fuel and you will throw a too lean code. Thus, you must replace the 3.0 bar with a 4.0 bar FPR.

Energy Suspension Dogbone Engine Mounts
Mar 2, 2005

Energy Suspension makes polyuerethane bushings that replace the OEM rubber bushings on the "dogbone" engine mount. These significantly reduce wheel hop on hard acceleration. Initial impressions are that you do get a little more vibration through the steering wheel and shifter, but it also really tightens things up. The vibration is really minimal though. This is definitley a good mod.

Diverter Valve Shimming
Mar 18, 2005

Nabbing this cheap mod idea from Steve Schwing, I shimmed my DV piston with (2) 1/2" ID washers (1 3/8 OD). The boost seems to hold longer now and is more smoothly delivered especially under lighter throttle. Cheap mod....total cost of $0.40.

Diesel Geek Ultra Short Shift Kit
Jun 14, 2005

The installation of this kit gives a more definite feel to the shift action as well as reducing the throw significantly front/back and side/side. I elected not to do a detailed write up because the installation instructions are so good on DGs website. Look at http://dieselgeek.com/Ultrasixinstall.htm
for a good write up with pictures.

These are just a few snaps I took along the way.

Forge cold-side diverter valve relocation kit install
Nov 10, 2006

This kit relocates the diverter valve to a position post-intercooler rather than pre-intercooler, so when letting off the boost, you are re-circulating cooled air back to the inlet side of the turbo, rather than hot air.
