The destruction was terrible. The pictures are hard to look at. I grew up in Halifax on Larch Street. My old neighbourhood will never be the same. I hope that I never have to live through something like this again.
I live with my family in Halifax and was a witness to this devastating hurricane. I was pleased to be able to email your pictures to my parents in New Brunswick...
I can't believe how devasting it was to Halifax!! I keep seeing all the pictures and it makes it real. I am in Moncton and we never got hit. Some places there will never be the same again.
I guess those wires weren't live? I knew someone where an incident like this happened but they were less fortunate they stepped on a hot wire and were toast ("literally").
Totally unreal! I gquess you really have to be there to believe how severe it really was! Thanks so much for sharing the pictures tho! Hope it all gets back to normal soon, as no power can be quite a set back when it was part of your daily life,,nice to know tho that in the new system this probelm will never be. What a pleasant thought!
thank you for the pictures. I am from Halifax living in Ontario; this was forwarded to me by my brother-in-law in Mount Uniacke, NS. You did a great job.
I am living in Southern California and am so grateful to a friend in Bridgewater for sending me this website so that I can at last view the devastation that took place last Sunday. The Los Angeles papers had very little coverage, but then that's not so surprising considering very few Angelenos know where Nova Scotia is half the time. A light dawns when I tell them how close it is to Maine! Fortunately, my family and friends had no damage to their homes. I was home in August but will be in for a big surprise on my next trip next year. How sad that the City of Trees had to lose so many. Halifax has been through worse destruction and will weather this as well. Hang in there, Haligonians!!!
Pictures most impressive, however, damage shown is not indicativwe of what has happened in other parts of Halifax, Dartmouth and the old County areas. There are whole green belt areas which have been knocked down and will have to be cleared. One friend of mine who lives in the West Lawrencetown area has over 200 trees down on his property and says he can now advertise his property as "having an excellent ocean view" which he didn't have on Sunday afternoon. Thanks for sharing your pictures with us.
Shut up you hippie! There's no proof that this hurricane had anything to do with global warming! 300 years ago we had hurricanes that were probably worse than this..
oh yeah, from Halifax in Quebec. Horrible devastation....
Good pictures, well ,I figure that if this comes from Lynda, you are my cousin! Ms. research!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice way to meet!!!!! Are you the younge guy in the pics or a old fart taking them? Hay, just kidding. I have to take some band shots this weekend, any hints from a good photographer! I get really good shots when I don't expect to. Nice to see your photo's, and may the source be with you. Your cousin JLH.
dear nova scotians, i am acanadian living in europe italy for 34 years and i am very saddened by what has happened to the most beautiful province in canada. however these terrible events are happening with more violence due to the heating of the planet. if we could only take a god look at these pictures and destruction and try to avoid these happenings in the future. we can only do this if we stop and take a true look at the lack of respect we have towards the natural beauty around us. i would do just what mother nature is doing i would fight back with violence. a loyal canadian (and may i add a very homesick one for my beautiful canada)
Thanks for the great pics, I from Lunenburg orginally, but in Ontario for schooling the tlak here in this area is N.S. The thoughts of everyone here in Southern Ontario are with everyone back home. But as true Nova Scotians we you will all pull through. Great pics for the circumstances. Ben
Thank you for sharing this with us. Great shots! We are Nova Scotians (Dartmouth - North End and Woodside)but have been living in New Brunswick for many years. Glad to hear things are getting back on track. Good luck and thanks again! Judy and Doug Lancaster
