The Ballyshaners wreath-laying at Arlington Cemetery
On Saturday, March 26, 2011, the Ballyshaners, the Irish heritage organization in Alexandria, Virginia, were given a rare honor of being allowed to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery. A shamrock-shaped wreath in the three colors of the Irish flag was laid at the Tomb by Ballyshaners President Chris Berry and Chairman Pat Troy, accompanied by the 2011 Saint Patrick's Day Grand Marshals, Tom and Nancy VanCoverden. Approximately 40 Ballyshaners members were also in attendance, proudly wearing their Irish sashes.
