I have a '96 Ford Taurus GL that the diagnostic on the check engine light says "EGR valve insufficient air flow". I have: -removed the EGR valve itself, shot it full of choke cleaner while working it up and down. Also shot lots of it into the hole that the valve mounts up to on the engine. -replace the EGR solenoid. -for the heck of it, replaced the plugs. -shot the rubber hoses leading up to the EGR vaccuum switch full of choke cleaner, and they are blowing up lots of air when the engine is running. -pooped a bunch of cleaner into all vaccuum lines that I find around the EGR valve.
And I still get the same diagnosis, even after it is cleared out of the computer and I drive around for a while. The check engine light comes back on, after all of this, and it says the same thing. Frustrating, to say the least. Help me, someone in the know.
Can you help me find the Min/Max and or normal operating percentage of an idle air bypass control for a 4.6 liter mercury grand marquis at idle speed? Thx, Brian
