    Manifold with crack - 2/3

Purchased a 1997 Mustang GT April 2006, a real cream puff. 14,300 miles on odometer. Oct, 2008, with 36,000 miles, intake manifold cracks, in exact place, as pictured above. Didn't know of the manifold problem, when I purchased it. Don't know if other engine damage has occoured. Hopefully the redesigned manifold, with aluminum crossover, will be durable. I love this car, and was hoping to keep it a long time.
    _______

Well it is still a Crapstang, so baby it and you may get a couple years from her.

Only way possably around getting reimbursement for this scam is to go with no repair reciept, that is if your repair was after the 7th year of operation.Good Luck!

Need to contact a ford dealer asap. However you may not get reimbursment if the reoair was made after the 7 yrs from initial sale of car. I missed it by 3 mo. I have a 96 crown. Settlement needs to be filed by your ford dealer before march 16,06

Thank you very much, Richard Tourino. I clicked your link for Better Business Bureau for out-of-court settlement. I will do this after I try one more round at Sanderson Ford in Glendale, Arizona. This regards for continual cracking intake manifolds on Ford 4.6 SOHC.

Yeah, i have been surfing and searching for Ford intake manifold problem relations. Now, i realized there are damn so many problems as shown on most websites. I will not be surprised anymore.
Tell you what! Bell Ford dealership in Phoenix, Arizona, sold me an obsolete intake manifold (part # F8AZ-9424-BC)without me knowing. Bell Ford "too bad!" to me. The correct part number is # F6SZ-9424-AA which is a new design but the date was March 2002. This new design should have it with aluminum coolant crossover costs around $500. I found out after 40,000 miles ahead (mileage around 130,000). This was the 3rd intake manifold. If you guys had been buying plastic intake manifolds after redesignation (not giving you the ones with aluminum coolant crossovers), you all should have the right for Ford to fix for free.
On 3rd intake manifold after 130,000 miles, my wife with a baby in the back seat of 1996 ford Mustang GT were on the way to home during the monsoon storm. We were on 303 loop highway. It was set on cruise control and the mileage was 60MPH on 55MPH speed limit. I was laying back and driving with steering wheel tilted up. (WE ARE DEAF AS HEARING IMPAIRED!!!) I didn't notice the dash lights warning. The engine started to stumble and I lifted my head up to see the dash lights. I had to push the clutch to pull over. But after pushing the clutch, cruise control freed RPM to redlines and boomed. There was smoke all around us. We were coughing. We got so scared. We all had to get out of the Mustang car immediately. It was so stormy outside! Had been waiting outside a very long time until our family came and found us stranded. A tow truck came for the Mustang. An obsolete intake manifold hurted us pretty well.
My Mustang had been sitting for about a year. My family and I have very low incomes because many businesses didn't want to hire a deaf person as a part of discrimination and can't prove for ADA laws. Finally, i rebuild my Mustang engine with head set and head bolt replacement. But the engine was found no good because of bad cylinder compression and main bearings to cause oil pressure dropping.
I am doing an ongoing action against Ford. I'm looking for the final key to get all of owners' vehicles to be regained or Ford Motor Company may go down the roads to out of business.
So far, 12 Ford factory plants have been shut down. Also GM has problems, too. Do not trust any AC Delco parts. Keep using the internet to keep seaching until you win. If you want to like myself. Good Luck!!!
    Thank you for reading this.

Mine too. I'm sure others don't even know this exists so there must be thousands. My dealer says this isn't what the laws suit refers too and that the action has not been decided on yet. Wonder if this is the same thing they tell all the police departments who must have a bunch of cruisers in their fleets with this same problem.

Mine went out in September 2005, 97 Lincoln Town Car. Anyone know if we can get reimbursed? Are there any class actions out there representing people over the 7 year mark?

I own a '96 Ford T bird with a 4.6L engine and it just join the club with you many other unfortunate consumers who experienced the cracked intake manifold. My car is well maintained and always kept in a garage. I always get compliments on its looks or how well it has been maintained. Unfortunately, none of that matters when your intake manifold cracks just over 70,000 miles and your engine compartment starts to steam and antifreeze begins to leak all over the place.

You can perform all the preventive maintenance that you want to help your car last but nothing can be done when Ford manufacture these cars with inferior parts and then try to charge a small fortune just to replace the part. I, too, was suprise to hear how much the parts and labor would cost me to have this car repaired. This is not the only Ford that I have ever owned but it just might be my last.

My 1996 Lincoln Town Car with 104,000 miles has joined the ranks of broken intake manifolds.

I was able to obtain a replacement at Advance Auto Parts for 218.00 plus tax. My son and I did the replacement with no serious problems. Total cost including new anti freeze about 250.00 dollars.

I would have never purchased this car or any other with a plastic intake manifold. I will be asking what type of intake manifold is on the next car I purchase and it probably will not be a FORD product.

I have owned Fords(cars and trucks) since 1959 when I bought a 1956 Ford. I have always been proud of Fords and I own five now. I have two which have the 4.6 and have not had any problems with but I have a friend whose manifold cracked and Ford would do nothing. They don't have the money to repair it and it made me ashamed of Ford Motor Company. I think it is time for everyone to refuse to buy any Fords until they give better service. They should be made to stand behind their bad products. As much as I have always loved Fords, I instructed our motor department that all of our company cars are to be replaced with another brand which will be over 100 automobiles and trucks in all divisions. I hope everyone will do the same all across the USA. Thank you

Some of my friends have received letters in the mail about the recall. I never got one. Maybe the reason being.....I have a 96 Crown Vic and had it repaired in 2005. I understood they were extending the dates of repair.

I own a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis and had the same problem. I had my core heater replaced when I saw a lot of cooling coming out when running the engine. Next was the Engine Check light on. Then I got it fixed with the cost of 1100 dollars with a car care center. But the problem seems not to be fixed. I may wait until the settlement in Oct. 7. Hopefully Ford will recall all to get them fixed.

1996 Grand Marquis blown intake manifold, about 60,000 miles. I got an estimate of $450 from a private garage in Taylor, MI. Please count me in for the lawsuit.
