In celebration of the 300th anniiversary of Needham, a cricket match was held at Cricket Field, Cricket was a very important sport 100 years ago.

Aly Raisman, Needham's gold winner (2) and bronze (1) at the 2012 Olympics in London. Held at the High School field, over 3000 people were there to greet her as she rode in from a parade starting at the town hall. Most of the pictures were taken by Amy Hicks. I took the ones from the hill.

At the Needham Public Library, we were entertained by Richard Clark who portrayed the controversial Scottish-American tycoon and library benefactor, (including Needhams) Andrew Carnegie. Wonderfully realistic, Mr. Clark played the roll most entertaining.

This day a car attempted to make a new door into the dunkin donuts.

SERIOUS HURRICANE HITTING FLORIDA RESULTED LATER IN WIND DAMAGE IN NEEDHAM. THESE ARE TAKEN ON COULTON PARK NEAR THE POLLARD SCHOOL. THE TREE, WEAKENED BY EXCESSIVE RAIN, FELL TO THE WIND STORM, (SHORT OF A HURRICANE. THE LAST PIC IS ON STEVENS ROAD.

Awards were given to William "Bill" Ast for his many years of volunteer work to several town organizations, and to Louise Condon for continuously offering help to the town when needed. Bill is 95 years old.

This year the awards went to Bill Dugan, a long time town meeting member, an active member of Needham Triad Committee and others. The late Meredity Page was best known as the vote teller at towm meetings which she served for 30 years. She volunteered in many community services.

MS bAUCK IS AN EXPERT ON COLONIAL DRESS. SHE BROUGHT CLOTHING OF HER OWN COLLECTION AND DISPLAYED AND WORE THE COLLECTION SHE USES COSTUMES TO ILLUSTRATE VARIOUS ASPECTS OF COLONIAL CULTURE INCLUDING SOCIAL STANDINGS AND THE ROLES OF MEN AND WOMEN.

The Needham Library invited Daniel M. Polvere to talk to us about Sherlock Holmes. His talk was excellent and informative.

Suni Williams, who set records in space earlier this year, was a Needham girl, graduating from High School in 1983. The town honored her and learned what a wonderful woman this talented person is.

This is a traveling half size copy of the famous Washington DC memorial to recognize the service members who lost their life in the Vietnam War. The display was setup to be on display from 10/30 to 11/2.
