The Symbolic Drawings of John Martindale

God has given me the ability to capture through art various experiences, emotions and insights. I hope my raw, gut-rot honesty, might somehow leave you blessed.

I have learned I am not the only one that feels and thinks these things. It would be better if I was just some odd case; But I am afraid my issues are wide spread, though rarely expressed.

    Oh to awake to reality
I really like this one. It reminds me a bit of Matrix.  "For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all." 2 Cor 4:17. Thanks for sharing your heart, by drawing honestly, and taking the risk before everyone to post them online.  It really reflects what others are feeling, and you are quite talented at representing these circumstances symbolically (Ex 31:2-3)

    My self-control
Hey John, could I get a copy of this one?  I can relate completely to your explanation and your struggle. I hope to use this image to not only for my own personal learning and growth, but to challenge other young men in their struggle with sexual tempation.

    90lbs wuss
Start by taking one weight off at a time and gradually working your way up to lift a heavier weight. When I saw this as a small picture, I thought, wow, many of us Christians do not take the time to build up our muscles in the Spirit. We want to be followers of Christ, but we do not practice endurance in order to get there.

    Bourbon St vs. the Church
I like this becasue it captures the spirit realm so well, and I am always asking God to open my eyes to see the spiritual warfare going on.
