Wow! A Kingfisher that actually posed for you!! Playing dead? Fabulous detail and these things are so fast on the wing normally that one gets some truly remarkable shots of the water, the mud, the nettles, the odd tin can, etc., etc., although there's a bette chance in Albania where they seem to grow to almost twice the normal size..

yes, the first ones are not very good...I did not want to upset it even more so I was a bit too fast and did not want to use the flash in its little eyes....

Interesting choice of flooring material but really makes a perfect backdrop for the iridescent colors on the little kingfisher!

well, the backdrop is my patio! :)
it flew at my window and we thought it was dead...or at least needed attention. So we put it on our patio outside where we kept an eye on it (the neighbors cats were interested!) and I took a few pictures. The flash sort of woke it up I guess as all of the sudden it opened its eyes....and sat up! and eventually flew away!
The colour is not very accurate though, flash is not sonice but I had no idea how long I had to take apicture so I grabbed my 350D with the ringflash attached and took a few pics very quickly!
