Hiking and rock climbing in two of Death Valley's notable canyons: Fall Canyon and Darwin Canyon. The former is a dry, remote, deserted, harsh, and inhospitable river bed; the latter is lush and green and has 9 very pretty waterfalls and bretahtaking rock climbing!

Climbed Mt. Whitney via the moderately technical Mountaineer's Route with Yura Friedman and Sasha Kizler. The peak, at 14,505 ft, is the highest point in the "lower 49" United States.

Building an igloo by the lake using ice bricks formed from compacted and frozen snow/ice slush. It was damn hard and we didn't finish the igloo. We hope to come back and finish it before it melts :-)

A weekend trip to Fire Island. It started as a rainy, cold Friday night and turned into a beautiful, sunny weekend of frolicking in huge Atlantic waves. Participants: Maksim, Masha, Tanya Muzika, Lesha.

A two-night backpacking trip into the Mt. Dix Wilderness of the Adirondacks. We did the following loop: Elk Lake - Dix Pond - Hunter's Pass - Mt. Dix (elev. 4,840 ft) - Dix Pond - Elk Lake. The highlight of the trip was spending a night on the summit of Mt. Dix. The temperatures plummeted to about 10 degrees F. We watched a gorgeous scarlet sunset, followed by a magical moonlit night, followed by a breathtaking sunrise. Participants: Yura Friedman, Maksim Kalashnikov, Masha Meytlis, Sergei Pershman.
