    i don't see any difference between any major city in other sa countries such as peru and bolivia, and smaller towns in brazil. are they really so similar? you've been to peru...

    Yes, I haven't seen much difference neither. However Quito is much cleaner than Lima, doesn't smell like urine and there is an armed guard next to every door.
