you don/t see many of these, a 61 dodge grille on a 62 chrysler newport. The other "fullsize" dodge models were not big enough. Plus, they were as shocking in appearance as the 40s Airflows. A midyear kludge. But I bet they were good cars

this sure looks like a 62 dodge lancer. The 60-62 dodge darts were big but not quite so big cars, prototypes for intermediates. Dodge (and Plymouth) did something strange in 62, and had to kludge together the really fullsize Dodge 880 midyear
I think that for me, a crazy classy auto lover, this site and the section OLD ADS, is the greatest and most incredible collection in the world. Keep up the good work.
Looking for the salesroom toy size sample of the 1957 Dodge, perfer colors salmon & cream. Car we had when we got married 45 years ago. Any ideas where to find one. Thank you.
Gosh, had a 2 door hardtop when I was 18, back in 1964. Had it painted 64 chevy Honduras Maroon color. Came with 2 barrel and single exhaust. Did not stay that way long. Found four barrel and manifold at salvage yard. Neighbor kitted new carb and helped install manifold. Put duals with glass packs on it with exhaust dumps that could not be gotten to unless car was jacked up. Drove around town with open exhaust until cops got tired of hearing it. Had a cam lobe go flat, could not find any hotter cam so went back stock. We used to drag race every weekend after we took the girls home. 326 motor was pretty strong but pulled about 4,000 plus pounds. Had a classmate that had a 60 chev conv. with a 348 and powerglide. Old Dodge would jump him out of hole big time-about 3 car lenghts through it's first gear. About 40 dodge shifted to second but the powerglide was was just coming onto powerband until 70 mph and would pull ahead of Dodge about one car length. Second gear on Dodge was good until 80 amd would make up the length and a little more by finish line. I probably raced the guy ten times until I went off to college.
