Olmstead Co Park & Zoo in late October
Uncle Russel used to farm in this valley in the 50's. Climbing the bluffs was great fun as a kid. Some of the shots are just north of the park on the way there.
Nonetheless, Oxbow County Park, 5 miles northwest of Rochester, contains one of the finest examples of native deciduous forest (skov) in southeastern Minnesota.
Oxbow Park offers almost any outdoor enthusiast a chance to pursue his or her favorite activity: hiking, camping, fishing, picnics. Park facilities include hiking trails, campground, four picnic areas, each with a covered shelter. One of the areas also has playground equipment, and a ball field is maintained during the summer for public use. Oxbow campground in a semi-primitive area has 30 campsites available, running water, restrooms, and showers. These facilities in connection with the nature center and Zollman Zoo, offer any visitor a number of ways to enjoy leisure time outdoors.
