-
-
Kova Tembel is a dome-shaped cap (bucket hat), constructed of four triangular panels that make up the crown of the hat, and a rim that is stitched in parallel rows all the way around. Coming out of the pioneering spirit of the kibbutz, the Kova Tembel ("fool's hat") is a symbol of friendship and nostalgia to the early years of the state of Israel. The Kova Tembel is the national hat of Israel. These pictures were taken in an exhibition of decorated hats, held in the port of Tel-Aviv, to celebrate Israel's 59th Independence Day. the pioneering spirit of the kibbutz, the Kova Tembel ("fool's hat") is a symbol of friendship and nostalgia to the early years of the state of Israel. -
The "Blue Boxes" exhibition was initiated by the Jewish National Fund (JNF) to promote restoration of the forests of northern Israel, which were severely damaged by fires ignited by Katyusha missiles during the Lebanon War II. Twenty-two of Israel’s most prominent artists volunteered to redesign giant models of KKL-JNF’s famous “Blue Boxes.” Each box was sponsored by one of Israel's leading financial companies or businesses. The giant boxes are displayed to the general public at an outdoors exhibition on Rothschild Boulevard during the Suckot holiday and afterwards sold at an auction, the proceeds of which will go towards restoration of Galilee forests. during the Lebanon War II.
