Wye Knots 2CV’ers New Years Day run 2012

Wye Knots 2CV’ers New Years Day 2012 run to Black Mountains, Wales.

An adventure... & Wow what an adventure it was!!

Was a little late leaving as Esther had to work 1st thing and I had a few little last min things to do to my 2CV, as get it fuelled up, which is no problem usually but most garages seemed shut at 8am, place was like a ghost town.

Eventually got going, made reasonable time in our 2CV, but knew we’d be late to some / all meet up points. Subsequently we missed the initial 1st meet up point at Tescos, Hereford.
Making our way along the route given, to Hay On Wye via A465 & B4352 [lovely road]. We were now only about 20 mins behind everyone else. Got to Hay On Wye & all was well- so far!!

In Hay On Wye we were forced to ask for directions to Lord Herefords Knob car park, only about 10 or miles away but there seemed to be no signs for where we were heading & I didn’t have my SatNav as usually have as hadn’t got round to putting a power socket in the 2CV yet –Doh!
Esther popped into the 1st shop we saw to ask directions. On returning, she’d got talking [her favorite pastime] to a lady who owned the shop, who was more than helpful. Found out that she’d owned a Citroen Dyane a few years back & loved it. She expressed her happiness about seeing lots of 2CV’s pass through. She even had quick look at ours.

Eventually we found our way up Forest Road upto Lord Herefords Knob car park. Simply amazing road & stunning, spectacular scenery!! Quite often was single track, cattle grids & at times very very steep, having to go into 1st gear, but so well worth the effort!!
Made it upto Lord Herefords Knob car park, got out for stretch find food in boot, looked up to see Jonathan aka ‘Jon2CV’, Garry aka ‘Gaz602’ & Jon aka ‘Spanners’ on the top of Hay Bluff mountain LOL Some of you may know of Spanners, he’s a Citroen technician at Citroen Redditch, & a well respected Citroen nut & mechanic, he also spanners for the Lumaca 2CV Racing team – hence the nickname.
All 3 of them are 2CV’ers & also C4 owners / C4OC forum members

Now for the decent down Gospel Pass!! - by this stage it had started raining umph!! An eventful drive for all down narrow sometimes flooded / muddy roads.
An encounter with a small rat like excuse for a dog on a suicide mission, dog that ran out nearly getting run over by 2CV infront of me [dog wasn’t on a lead & was chasing all the cars, whilst the seemingly unconcerned owner looking on, giving evil stares at the precession of 2CV’s, as if to say how dare we be there], scary moment locking upon a very wet & muddy single track lane kept me awake!!
We met quite a few on coming cars, most being locals in there 4x4’s who either let us through waving & smiling or looking at us in disgust, LOL!!
We arrived eventually at the Pandy pub for a much needed coffee & snack before the drive home.

We left at around 15.30 for lets say, an eventful drive home, all being very tiered due to far to many late nights, we just wanted to get home at reasonable time for a good Sunday roast.
Anyways wasn’t well, it felt down on power LOL more than normal LOL.
It developed an oil leak, I knew of a very minor leak but this time, I feared is time it could be bad.
After a short while I noticed I was leaving trail of smoke a car smelt of oil.
Not knowing how bad actually it was, where it was coming, no idea how to prevent it from getting any worse, or how to fix it – with RAC phone number & membership number in hand, Esther, the kids & I, liking a challenge, decided to keep going & try make home [now about 40 miles]
Jon aka spanners set off just before me & having passed him earlier when he’d stopped for fuel, was now in my trail. Jon soon caught up with me around Bransford - 10 or so miles from Worcester.
Despite the smell of oil getting worse, & us fearing the worst, our 2CV kept on going!
Not bad for a £400 ebay purchase, until now its been great to us & in the 3 years I’ve owned it, been a outstanding little car.

We passed M5 J7 but not wanting to go on the motorway in a sick 2CV [bad enough in a good one lol]
We battled on, with Jon in his Ami behind, through Worcester, Dritwich & on through Bromsgrove, to Redditch & home.
Really appreciated the help & assistance Jon, sorry for the oil on your Ami windscreen & hope the smell of oil wasn’t to bad.

Thanks to all those 16 or so A Series Citroens that attended, everyone was very friendly.
The kids, Esther & I really enjoyed the day despite the problems we’ve had.

CCC X Rally @ Burleigh House 15.04.12

X RALLY 2012 Report

Thanks very much to everyone that came along today as we had an excellent turnout of just over 80 cars...

The attendance was mostly BX's however the Xantia's were very close behind!
There was a good amount of XMs too but with a small number of S1s unfortunately.
C6s were in plentiful supply & lots of other 'Modern C's' including a couple of C4 By Loeb's, a C4 Grand Picasso, a Xsara Picasso, & a ZX

The totals according to the sign in list were as follows...
BX - 26
Xantia - 19
XM - 13
CX - 9
Others - 16

Good to see everyone again & chat Citroen's, won't name names as I will miss people out as there was a lot of people there today!

- Prizes: -

Xantia Prizes:
Jason won Best Xantia with his Series 1 3.0 V6 24v that used to be Roger's old car. I'm sure Roger would be pleased to see it looking like it was today as Jason put a huge effort into it and it certainly did show. 2nd prize for Xantia was Barry's 3.0 V6 Activa Manual! - what a car.
3rd prize was awarded to Mark's amazing 1.9TD SX white Xantia.

CX Prises:
1st prize for best CX Was Jon's blue Athena - he was there at 9am polishing it!
2nd was Andrew's lovely low mileage Delage Red Safari
3rd prize was to the well known Series 1 Prestige (HKY) that belongs to Dave.

XM Prizes: A very tight competition however... Matthew's beautiful gold Series 1 3.0 V6 XM got the prize for Best XM.
Close behind was Darren's very beautifully modified Series 2 3.0 24V in a lovely shade of blue with wheels that really set it off nice. The Bonnet vent was a particularly lovely touch
3rd prize was to Will's 2.1 SD that really is a nice car...

The only way to stop Tim winning 1st & 2nd prizes for Best BXs was to have him help judge the cars, & thus...
1st prize went to John's (?) 19TGD that is a lovely car
2nd to Gary with his Meteor - he would have got 1st if his Meteor sticker wasn't faded!
3rd prize to Paul's very clean Silver TGD.

All in all, there was some very nice cars there indeed, of course there has to be a mention for Ian's Mark 1 BX Estate & for that car he won a nice bottle of beer. Apparently he doesn't drink though, but he said his wife does!
Dave's CX is worth a mention though, as we could hear Will laughing rather loudly when he was taking it for a spin around the field...
Fish & Chips twice please, Dave!
We saw the C6 owners copied Jason & I's idea of putting his Xantia infront of the house for some photos & then the C6 boys moved up there!

Enjoy the photos...

1st up - the main turnout which was very impressive indeed, taken early on before the masses turned up...

Apologies for the quality of some of the pictures, most were taken by the kids. & the weather was very changable, getting rather dark...then light...

PFC Magazine photo shoot & feature

Photo Shoot:
On Monday 1st May I had a photo shoot of my Citroen C4 VTS 'by Loeb' by Performance French Car Magazine
Had been chatting to the guys at PFC Magazine for a while, having been promised a feature / shoot for approx. 6 months.
A magazine editor later [In April David Corfield stood down as editor ‘for a variety of reasons’ & was replaced by Davy Lewis, ex-editor of redline magazine e: davy@performancefrenchcars.co.uk
Over 30 emails to & fro with Davy & Mark at PFC Magazine, finally a date was arranged & the shoot was done.
The photo shoot was a close call due to the weather. In the hours prior to the shoot, Davy & I had been closely watching the weather forecasts for the area, wondering whether to go ahead or not. Right up until a couple of hours before hand. In the end, we had a great afternoon doing the photo shoot, despite the terrible weather earlier in the day, remarkably the sun came out & it actually got quite warm. All turned out great, especially the photos!!
Viewed the shots Davy took & they looked amazing!!
Thank all those involved in prepin' the car & for
making it all happen. You know who you are.
Thanks, Jon

Magazine Feature:
Performance French Cars [July August 2012 Issue] features my C4 VTS 'by Loeb'
Link:
http://www.performancefrenchcars.co.uk/content.php?297-July-2012-issue-Cracking-Circuit-Guide-and-Seat-Guide-included

On Sale from 7th June 2012
Fantastic feature & pics.
Just a couple of inaccuracies but otherwise well happy with it.

"P36 - 36 C4 VTS Turbocharged, rally-inspired Citroen" - Not quite, bit of 'editorial licence' me thinks. Having sent my full tech spec prior to the photo shoot, clearly stating to Davy the Editor that my car was Mk1 C4 VTS 'by Loeb' & therefore non turbo, hence why its only just under 200 bhp - but hey ho!!

Oh - as for the 'Thanks: Dave for the remap'
Who Dave is I haven't a clue. Car was remapped by a GSR Engineering man at Red Dot Racing - forget his name but is wasn't Dave lol
Anways, enjoy the pics...
Jon

Report: Sunday [27.05.12]
Hi ya, We’ve just got home from the ‘CCC Northern Section Rally 2012’ at Wetherby Racecourse in Yorkshire
Had an absolutely great day with perfect weather. Infact been an absolutely great weekend with perfect weather all weekend.
On Saturday we went to La Vie en Bleu [Celebration of fine French automobiles at Prescott Speed Hill Climb] & CCC Northern Section Rally 2012’ at Wetherby Racecourse in Yorkshire on Sunday.
Took the C4 VTS By Loeb out on both days despite the air con not working as needs a recharge [booked in to be sorted next week]. Would of taken the 2CV to Prescott but unfortunately its still ‘sick’ though hopefully ‘being looked at’ in the next 2 weeks.
Kinds of wish I’d taken the C4GP as we were all quite hot on the way home this evening.
Took me back to my youth in hot cars in summer, but luckily no plastics seats!
We all got very hot & slightly sun burnt despite having had loads of sun factor 30 all over.
Anyways here are all the pics the kids & I took giving a flavour of the weekend.

Citroen Car Club DSM Rally 2012

Event: Citroen Car Club [CCC] DSM [DS/SM Section] Rally 2012
8th to 10th June 2012

Organised by: Citroen Car Club
Venue: The Shoulder of Mutton
Church Street
Little Horwood
Buckinghamshire MK17 0PF
Location just a couple of miles from Winslow
www.theshoulderofmutton.org.uk

Programme: Sorry, lost my copy already. In between unloading the two cars its gone missing. Hopefully it’ll turn up, I’ll then post up details of it

Hi, Once again we had fabulous weekend at this years DSM Rally at Little Horwood.
Though I've attended this event on serveral previous occaisions, Its the 1st time we've camped.
It was a bit touch & whether to go & camp over or not due to the weather.
In the week leading up to this event, we had closely watched the forecast for Little Horwood area online, & on that information, we took a gamble & packed all our camping stuff in the C4 Grand Picasso & C4 VTS by Loeb & off we went.
It rained most of the way en route to Little Horwood via Countrywide in Towcester for a gas bottle refill. We wondered what we had let ourselves in for & if we'd made the best decision. A decision that we later didn't regret.
On arrival it was dry & believe it or not, the sun was shining, but only just!
Saturday was dry at 1st though mainly overcast most of the day, with very light sporadic rain showers.
Sunday, we had almost a lovely blue sky & sun all day, some cloud but a really lovely day.
There was a light rain shower just as we departed at approx. 16.40 pm on Sunday afternoon.

Attendance was unfortunately down this year, due to the weather, though numbers weren’t to disappointing.

The kids made new friends & spent pretty much the whole weekend in the playground. They slept most of the way home, and are all now totally exhausted & in bed.
Esther, the kids & I yet again had another great Citroen weekend!!

Big thank you to all the organisers & we’ll be there again next year.

Hope you enjoy my pictures I took over the weekend.
Regards, Jon, Esther & Kids [Bethany, Joshua & Rosie]

H Van Rally 2013

Hi just got home from being at the H Van & Friends Rally 2013 @ Donnington Park Circuit
Which included a visit to the Donington Museum where, & I quote the Donington Park Website…

“The Donington Grand Prix Collection is, quite simply, the largest showcase of Grand Prix racing cars in the world.
Four halls, with over 130 exhibits, illustrate the history of motorsport from the turn of the 20th Century, where visitors can get close to the cars driven by such famous names as Nuvolari, Mansell, Prost, Moss, Fangio & Stewart.
The Donington Grand Prix Collection houses the largest collection of McLaren & Williams racing cars in the world (outside of their respective factories) & the only complete collection of Vanwalls.
In addition to the Grand Prix cars, part of The Wheatcroft Collection has also gone on display at the world famous Donington Grand Prix Collection.
The first hall has been transformed to hold part of the collection 'never seen before in public'.
A number of World War II vehicles and motorcycles have arrived at the museum & more are expected to join these vehicles throughout the coming year.
Kevin Wheatcroft, the collections founder, said "The time is right to open the doors to some of these treasures. I have been badgered for many years to show these vehicles to the public & very much look forward to adding more vehicles as each month goes by".
Link: http://www.donington-park.co.uk/about-donington/the-donington-grand-prix-collection/

The Donington Museum Manager is an H Van owner & kindly allowed rally attendees discount on admission to Donington Museum [Normal entry fee: £20 for family of 5 / Subsidised H Van Rally attendee admission fee: £8

Onsite were an H Van Bar & Café
Drive around circuit with H Vans & BBQ on Saturday evening

Contacts: John Sobey e: hvan@bigfoot.com / Tel: 01453 542220 or Martyn Brown e: martyn@hvan.co.uk

No.s I’m told were unfortunately, down on previous years mainly due to the weather which was overcast & breezy. Though better than the rain forecasted all day.

Yet another busy weekend just, didn’t get go until Saturday morning as was working away last week & didn’t get home until 2am saturday morning, in need of some sleep.
So after a well earn't 7 hours sleep, once up we packed the cars with all the camping gear etc, the missus & kids & set off Little Horwood.
Bearing in mind the location is close to Silverstone Circuit & being British Grand Prix weekend, we feared heavy traffic problems, but to our relief we didn’t have any problems / hold ups en route, & arrived at approx. 1pm, pitch our tent & started to chillout.
The weather was truly perfect all weekend!!
Once again we had an absolute FAB weekend, all getting a little sunburnt despite liberal suncream application.
We love Little Horwood & really forward to being back there for the forthcoming Citroen Car Club [CCC] CX, XM & Xantia Rally on the 6th to 8th September

The day started at 4am leaving home & we headed for the DS3GB Convoy Meet point @ 7am @
The Anglesey Arms in Halnaker near Chichester [PO18 0NQ]
We then all convoyed to Goodwood Festival of Speed 2013 where we all parked up together.
I’m sure I can say that a great day was had by all!!

On entry we visited the Moving Motor Show, giving everyone the opportunity to see the very latest models up close, & in many cases drive them on a dedicated vehicle evaluation route within the grounds of the Goodwood Estate, including the revered Goodwood Hillclimb.
Cars will undertake hundreds of runs on a special evaluation route within the extensive grounds of the Goodwood Estate including the world famous Festival of Speed hillclimb.
Then we all headed to the Citroen UK stand for where we received a fantastic welcome, & after a good look look around especially at the DS3 Cabrio Racing concept car we were taken upstairs to the VIP area & received a complementary coffee.
To my amazement & great delight we came across a 2CV on the 1st floor of the Citroen UK stand, which was signed by enthusiasts. The various clubs bought a new 2CV, dismantled it & distributed the panels around the world, for everybody to sign as a petition against the rumours of ending 2cv production. The front wings went around British 2cvgb meets.
Then after a chat & full use of the nice comfy sofas we all went our separate ways to explore the show.
There were a large Porsche presence this year the event was honouring the 50th anniversary of one of the world’s most versatile & popular sports cars, the Porsche 911, along with a Formula 1 Paddock & old WRC Cars on display.

My pics can be viewed at: http://public.fotki.com/JonM/goodwood-festival-o-1/

Thanks Jon

Only one thing that I wasn’t happy about – Mikko Hirvonen was at the show on Friday & doing a run up the hill – Esther [Girlfriend] hopes his time isn’t as good as hers in the DS5 hehehe

Citroen Car Club National Rally 2013

Citroen Car Club National Rally 2013

19th to 21st July 2013

@ Wicksteed Park
Barton Road
Kettering
Northamptonshire NN15 6NJ
www.wicksteedpark.co.uk

Yet another CCC National over & yet again a great weekend had by all
The weather, though still warm wasn’t intense sun with no cloud cover which was probably best.
Saturday, was well attended, with Sunday was the best attended of the two days as usual.
Kids went over to the park on Saturday which they enjoyed, but felt it was quite expensive for what there was there.
With over 30 attractions, with something for everyone [debateable lol] including rollercoasters & several other rides such as pirate ship & rocky falls & log flume etc.
The ‘historic grade II country park’ [147 acres] was beautiful & picturesque offering several places to eat with a range of snacks & refreshments & the Park View Bistro, we did reluctantly [but kids liked it] sample the burgers & chips on Sunday lunchtime as I was too lazy to go out to the Tescos Extra / Aldi only 1 mile from the park, which we’d used to get supplies on Friday evening once we’d pitch our tent. [We thought as it was very warm best not take all the weekends food with us & best not store it all in our mobile fridge in our C4 Grand Picasso, as we normally do.
Found that out when went for the milk on sunday morning to make a coffee & it had turned to cheese over night, lovely!!
Facilities at the park were, erm… vile!! Our only gripe. The toilet / shower blocks were filthy – vile basically!!
The campsite itself was pretty good, fairly flat, though a tad hard to get the pegs in.

Amoungst all the magnificent DS’s, Tractions 2CV’s, Xantias, XM’s – the list goes on… there were a rare ZX 16V, several Visas including a Rally wide arch Visa.
As for the largely overlooked & hidden ‘moderns', on Saturday there were three DS3’s & three black C4’s [two C4 VTS’s & one Loeb] & again three on Sunday.

Thanks for visiting my website & this event gallery I created for this event of the pics taken over the weekend.
Hope you enjoyed them
Thanks, Jon

Rallyday 2013

Rallyday 2013 @ Castle Combe Circuit Saturday 21st September 2013

DS3GB was out again at Rallyday 2013.
Though numbers were slightly down on previous meets [5 x DS3’s in total] much fun was had by all
The early meet point 07:15 am was at the Salutation Inn [SN14 7LH] approx. 1.5 miles from Castle Combe Circuit.

Rallyday is the UK's Premier Rally Car Show @ Castle Combe Circuit & returns again in its usual Autumn slot. 2013 was the 13th edition of UK's Premier Rally Car Show @ Wiltshire's Castle Combe Circuit.
Traditionally taken place in Autumn, but moved to August last year to avoid a clash with Wales Rally GB with that event now switching back to November Rallyday is free to take up its usual date.
Rallyday regularly attracts crowd in excess of 10,000 people & last year was again a success.

2003 WRC Champion Petter Solberg pulled out all the stops to give fans truly memorable day as he performed dozens of crowd-pleasing donuts in his Castrol Edge sponsored Ford World Rally Team Fiesta RS WRC car.
The Norwegian was one of a plethora of stars from the rallying world in attendance.
Others included then M-Sport Ford WRC driver Ott Tanak, British Rally Champions Jonny Milner, Jimmy McRae & Russell Brookes, as well as WRC Academy pilot John MacCrone (running in his Palletforce Rally Team Fiesta R2), Rallyday hosts, Tony Mason (1972 RAC winning co-driver with Roger Clark) & Howard Davies (1996 BRC winning co-driver with Gwyndaf Evans) & 1999 & 2000 Dakar winner & 1998-2002 World Cross Country Championship winner Jean-Louis Schlesser.
Schlesser headed up the dedicated Cooper Tires 4x4 Rally Raid Zone c/w Race2Recovery team, which will become the 1st team of predominantly injured servicemen to contest gruelling Dakar Rally

Discounted spectator tickets for Rallyday 2013, along with booking forms for Car Clubs, Traders, 4x4 Clubs & Clubmans Rally Teams available from 1st Feb 2013.

Info @ www.rallyday.com - Castle Combe Circuit, Castle Combe, Chippenham, Wiltshire SN14 7EY

DS3GB RR Meet @ SP Tuning - Sat 26th October 2013

DS3GB Rolling Road Meet @ SP Tuning
on Saturday 26th October 2013 [9am]
SP Tuning, Unit 6A Sapcote Road Industrial Estate, Burbage, nr Hinckley, Leicestershire LE10 2AU
Price: £30 a run on Dyno
Plenty of parking around the workshop

Report:
Had yet again another great day with the DS3GB boys & girls at SP Tuning for a Rolling Road meet on Saturday 26th October 2013.

Despite getting a little lost as both my TomTom & built in ‘My Way’ SatNav couldn’t find SP Tuning @ Unit 6A Sapcote Road Industrial Estate, Burbage, nr Hinckley, Leicestershire LE10 2AU, but luckily found that I was only a matter of a couple of hundred yards away. Would have been early if hadn’t of got lost.

Was a little windy but rain held off thankfully.

Six cars ran on the rollers on the day, with most more than happy with their results.
Especially John’s [Arlow] white DS3 Racing with 213 BHP!! Fantastic!! & standard
Readout is in PS so as John says ‘if calculated correctly it's actually 210 BHP’ [See pic of Dyno readout in gallery]

By 11:30am ish after all the cars had run, so around midday we moved on & went to the Mill on the Soar, a Hungry Horse Pub @ Broughton Astlry, Leics LE9 6QA
Food was ok. I had a mixed grill, many had the all-day breakfast.
As we were eating a wedding party came in [strange choice for a wedding reception, but ho hum] I felt that we were being made to feel that restaurant staff jsut wanted us out / needed our table, staff were hovering around us waiting to clear up after us once we made a move for the door, bit annoying.

We all left for home around 3pm & I had a great drive home using both motorway & B Roads on route home, which was nice!!

Thanks again for another great DS3GB day out peeps!

Please enjoy my pics I took during the day & also a few [hope no-one minds] of some others pics…

Regards, Jon

Citroen National Dealer Conference 2013

DS3GB Citroen National Dealer Conference
Thursday 5th December 2013

Convoy Meet Point 1:
@ 05:30am - Travelodge Towcester Silverstone Hotel A43 Towcester Bypass Northamptonshire NN12 6TQ

Convoy Meet Point 2:
@ 6am - Main gate Silverstone Circuit Towcester Northamptonshire NN12 8TN

DS3GB were invited so that we could put on one of our Award winning Stand displays for the delegates.
Citroen UK wished to create a Festival display themed around customers, based in & around the Pit Garages. Tinsel was a necessity!
This was prestigious event for us to be invited to & we made the most of it.
We had 15 club cars (should have been 10 but Martin pushed a bit so we got 15 in!!) Cars were split with 10 cars in the pits garages & 5 in the Pit lane.
We were up and out very early [5am] once again, meeting outside the main gates to Silverstone Circuit at 6am where DS3GB were asked to recreated the Award Winning Club Stand at the 2013 Citroen National Dealer Conference at Silverstone Circuit on Thursday 5th December 2013
We had the fantastic chance to drive the full GP Circuit with an Instructor giving each of us tuition.
A great lunch was provided & each of us received a bottle of Taittinger Champagne complements of Citroen UK – lovely jubbly!!
There were 2 Citroen classics on display from Citroen Car Club owners [Barry Arnells 1938 Slough built Traction Coupe & a 1974 DS23].
Simply an amazing day had by all, fantastic way to end the 2013 show season!!
Roll on 2014!!

DS3GB

DS3GB Owners Club the UK's No.1 Award Winning DS3 Club.
We're not just a Forum, our aim is to "Get you out in your DS3" Come & Join Us!

All I can say is WOW! Whatever I write can't really express what a fantastic first 5 and a bit months we have had.
After that initial conversation with people as to whether they wanted another Club to the process of getting everything going it has been an astronomical adventure.
We have been all over the country attending events and promoting the Club. Along the way we even won 3 Trophies!
Our aim was to get people out in their DS3's instead of just typing about it on a Forum and this is where we have been:

Launch Day - Donington Park 22 June
Waxstock, Peterborough Arena 7 July - Voted Best Club Arrive and Shine 2013
Goodwood Moving Motor Show - 11 July - Courtesy of CUK- World Premiere of Cabrio DS3
French Car Show, Castle Coombe - 27 July - 2nd Place - Best Club Show Stand
Picnic Day - 18 Aug
CCC - Little Horwood 7 September
Trax - Silverstone 8 September
Citroen Car Club (Midlands Section) Rally - Stratford upon Avon Racecourse
Rally Day - Castle Coombe Circuit 21 September
Leamington 100 Car & Bike Show 22 September - Best Club Stand Winners
Modified Live - Brands Hatch 29 September
Burgers, Bacon and Boating - Worcester 6 October
Rolling Road Day - SP Tuning 26 October
Rally GB WRC Final Round - North Wales 14 - 17 Nov (Competition sponsored by CUK)
Citroen National Dealers Conference 5 December (Special Invitation from CUK)

Thats not just some random list to fill a page and that we never had a car go to. Its a list of events that we actually attended as a Club!
Someone recently said that we must be sad travelling thousands of miles to see the same people week in week out.
Well, we are a Car Club and a car is for travelling in and a Club by definition is a place where you make and meet friends regularly. If its not the same friends then its not a Club is it?
During the year we also featured in French Performance Cars Magazine which was fantastic PR for such a new club.
We rounded off the season with a fantastic day at the Citroen UK National Dealers Conference, Silverstone.
We were invited by CUK to put on a Club stand for the 800 delegates to have a look around while they were waiting to attend the conference. We took 15 cars and were stationed in the Pit Garages with 5 cars leading the delegates in and 10 cars inside.
The members worked hard arriving at 0600 and finally getting into the pits at 0630.
We then had an hour and a half to get the cars gleaming before the delegates started arriving.
The members clubbed together and we produced a professional folder to give to the dealers about our Club. All 250+ were given out and we couldn't find any dumped anywhere, lol.
We had long chats with anyone who wanted to listen including the Directors of CUK, Head of Citroen Ireland, Citroen Racing etc etc.
Once the delegates went into Conference we were then given the opportunity to drive the FULL GP Circuit with a Race Instructor in our own cars! We were buzzing!
Fantastic day rounded off by a complimentary bottle of TAITTINGER Champagne to take home.
What an end to the season.
You would think that we will now have a few months off and rest on our laurels. NOT BLOOMIN LIKELY!!!!!

We start again on 12 Jan with a trip to AUTOSPORT at the NEC! Here's our provisional list for 2014
Autosport Show 12 Jan
Paul Walker Tribute Meet - Santa Pod 18 Jan
FCS 7/8 June
Trax
Modified Live
Mod Nats
Waxstock
Goodwood Festival of Speed
World RallyX - Lydden Hill
Mayhem - Lydden Hill
BHP - Lydden Hill
Leamington 100
Rally Day
Brighton Run
Simply French
WRC Rally GB
WRC Rally France
Paris Motor Show First w/end Oct
WTCC Round - June 22nd Spa, Belgium.
Peak District Run

You wont find a DS3 Meet list that big anywhere else! If you consider that nearly half of the 2014 meet list will still be in our first 12 months of existence that would make a whopping 25 meets in a year!
We also have our Charity Event that was announced at the CUK Conference with full details shortly when the venue is confirmed.
I have been humbled, encouraged and overwhelmed by the response to our Club and would like to thank everyone who has played a part in it. Now lets get 2014 Started!
We’re ending 2013 with over 100 members, 300 FB likes and over 600 followers on Instagram! For 6 months that's absolutely brilliant. Well done all of you.

Merry Xmas and a Happy DS3 New Year!!

Each day, 1 lucky visitor that participates in the Friends of Prescott raffle will be the envy of every ‘Veyronite’ & will win a memorable ride in a Veyron.
The Super Sport version of the Veyron is considered the fastest street-legal production care in the world & boasts a top speed of 431.072 km/h (267.856 mph) & named ‘Car of the Decade’ for 2000–2009 by BBC television’s ‘Top Gear’ programme, with the standard Bugatti Veyron winning ‘Best Car Driven All Year’ award for 2005.
Roland Duce will be competing in his beautiful Delahaye 135M & also thrilling us with his Bugatti Type 57. The original T57 & later versions were designed by Jean Bugatti & were built between 1934 & 1940, with 710 being made. Roland’s ‘type 57’ exotic bodywork was designed by Gangloff in the early 1930’s. However nobody was brave or rich enough to place an order. More recently the owner of a type 57 chassis took the plunge & got one built. Believe it or not the original designer now in his 90’s came over to England to supervise the build.
Popular driver Richard Scaldwell will be plying his 1919 wood GN cycle car chassis & ET Willows 1908, 5112cc/3111 cui JAP V8 up the climb hoping to ‘shave’ off some time. Watch out for this GN JAP Grand Prix special.
Entertainment, is distinctly French themed with the beautiful & talented can-can dancers, live music, a Parisienne 1920’s Renault bus, brave stilt walkers, an accordion player – reminiscent of Monsieur Alfonse played by Kenneth Connor in the 1980’s television show ‘Allo Allo’; Perhaps you may spot Renee Artois loitering in the café or chasing the waitresses! Even the Gendarmes will be there! ‘Le Shopping’, a French style shopping village with food, art & of course French berets. Food & drink will be French influenced with crepes & plat du jour.
Other treats in store include De Dion tricycles, Les Grands Routiers “Delage & Hotchkiss” & a plethora of rare and eclectic cars & of course Bugatti’s.
Bugatti gravity racers will be on display, T35 & tank. The Bugatti trust will be open both days of the festival.
In addition - a wide variety of car clubs have confirmed their attendance, & will have displays in the Orchard including: Club Alpine Renault, Renault sport Clio Trophy owners club, Renault Alpine Owners Club & Renault Owners Club / SIMCA & Matra Enthusiasts / Citroen Car Club, combined with Traction Owners Club & 2CVGB Owners Club / TVR Club Midlands & TVR Club Oxford / Peugeot Sport Cars UK & Club Peugeot, Southern Division Rhocar, C10C Car Club, Cotswold Car Club, Pembleton Cars, Motor.net & Rover 75 & ZT, VSCC, Delage, Hotchkiss, Voisin & Teal owners club.
Trivia: The pre-war Grand Prix racing era saw nations racing under a specific colour, Germany raced in white, Great Britain in green & France raced in blue, hence the link to ‘Le Vie en Bleu’. With so much to see & do, why not make a weekend of it.
Camping just £5 per adult per night with children half price.
PRESCOTT welcomes car clubs. Why not bring your Club to us & enjoy group ticket discounts, designated parking area, bespoke catering, hill cavalcades & superb facilities.
The NEW Prescott Club House opened its doors for the 1st time in April 2013 & is the perfect venue to hold AGMs, conferences, car rallies, meets & get togethers.

DS3GB 1st Birthday!! - Come & join us on the DS3GB Club Stand
We wanted 20+ cars, we got 25 - Our club represents over 10% of Club which is excellent!
Aim on the day was to recruit new members, some of which may not know about us & everything we do & promote our fantastic family Club.
In 2013 DS3GB were runners up in the Best Club Stand category, without really trying, lol.
This was due to everyone working hard not only on arrival but throughout the day talking to people & recruiting without any pressure.
2 main reasons that we didn't win, these are we didnt have a shop or a PA sytem.
This year we had both & we won 'Best Club Trophy'
Theme for the DS3GB stand in 2014 was...'Retro Disco 1st Birthday Party'.
Martin's PA played music all day, his playlist consisted of firstly, during set stand up he played French Cafe music, then retro & modern music.
We had our usual stuff - club banners along with large letters spelling 'Vive La France'.
We had 2 events shelters together with another smaller gazebo in the middle for the club shop, 1 shelter for seating & the other for Food & Drink: Everyone please bring food & drink so that we can give it away if needed.
We started the day after set up with have champagne / bucks fizz or soft drinks
The DS3GB Club Shop sold Club decals / Club T shirts
DS3 related autojumble
Main thing for the day was for everyone to enjoy themselves & make sure folk are on the stand smiling
All in all - we had a great time,
made better by winning 'Best Club Trophy'

Boss man handed out tickets & stand passes We met at 6am-ish & left at 6.30am in order to get into circuit & set up by 8.30am

Post Event Report: Success!!
What a great day at TRAX for the Club as we won another trophy for Best Club Stand!
Well done to everyone who was there & a great Team effort.
This means that in our 1st 15 months we have won a Best Club award at the 3 major UK shows & not only against other French Clubs & cars.
There were 175 Clubs & 1000's of cars @ Trax 2014.

All these trophies were earned by the members who worked hard before, during & after the events, without whom there would be no success so take a bow everyone.

Reminds us of an old 80's tune "It ain't what you do, It's the way that you do it".

PFC Indoor Expo 2014

Performance French Car Magazine [PFC] Indoor Expo 2014
Sunday 12th October

Morning started at 4am
Despite being cold & foggy we set off bang ontime & made good time arriving ahead of schedule at 05:30am

DS3GB Pre-Meet Point: 05:45/06:00am
Met in car park of Donington Park Grand Prix Collection Museum DE74 2RP

Event Destination: Donington Exhibition Centre Donington Park Race Circuit DE74 2RP

Ticket Price: Adult Entry £10 / Under 16’s Free
£15 on gate

Traders, Exhibits, Demos, Freebies / Samples, goodie bags / ‘Massive’ Renaultsport Collectors Arena / Race car pit stops & set up / PFC Magazine stand
Free Public parking
Indoor: 5000m2

Was a great day with DS3GB
But…
Was a little disappointed with the show to be honest – not much to do

Hardly any traders – poor to be kind

Few if any demos – not sure where they happened

Not so sure about the ‘massive’ Renaultsport Collectors Arena, but certainly wasn’t ‘massive’ more like ‘a few’

Race car pit stops & set up – well did they actually ever touch the car at anytime during the day? We were quite near them and I didn't see them do anything

PFC Magazine stand – same a usual

Freebies, Samples, goodie bags - never saw any freebies, think there were some car wax samples & what goodie bags?

Exhibition Hall never got warm & was a bit rough to be kind

Bumper cars - well!! as they had already been paid that why they didn’t give a monkeys
Badly run, bad attitude especially towards the kids & knackered bumper cars / set up

If it wasn’t for the DS3GB I’d of been very disappointed to be honest
Probably would of come home early too

Hope they learn for next year if it happens again

WRGB 2014

Wales Rally GB 2014
14th to 16th November 2014

Categories: WRC3/WRC2/WRC/JWRC
Website: www.walesrallygb.com

History: Founded in 1932, 367 crews entered inaugural Royal Automobile Club Rally.
Introduction of forest roads in 1960 transformed rally into what we know today. Route formerly incl loops around England, Scotland & Wales but WRGB been based solely in Wales since 2000. Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium hosted WRC’s 1st indoor stage in 2005

Route: Significant changes made in 2014. Missing were Great Orme & Thursday night stages, in their place was a more compact route with more spectating opportunities than in 2013. After ceremonial start at Eirias Park stadium in Colwyn Bay on Thursday, the main action got underway Friday morning, with all mid-Wales action packed into 1 day, which gave fans a much wider choice, easing congestion & lessened the strain on forest car parks. The Saturday & Sunday run through North Wales with Clocaenog complex feat. heavily on both days. The Powerstage moved to Brenig (on east side of Clocaenog), a new stage that finished on shores of Llyn Brenig. Chirk Castle & Kinmel Park returned as RallyFest stages on Saturday & Sunday respectively. The ceremonial finish remained in Llandudno.

Challenge: Fast, tree-lined forest tracks not technically difficult, but made difficult by muddy & slippery conditions. Unpredictable weather can bring, rain, snow, ice & fog. Uncertain grip as isolated patches of mud or ice can trap the unwary. Logs piled high close to the edge of roads must be avoided at all costs.

Car spec: Gravel suspension. Soft compound tyres essential in cold, wet conditions. Studded tyres are banned, even in extreme winter conditions

RALLY FM [LIVE] - Broadcasting on 87.7FM

DS3GB WRGB 2914 Basecamp/Accomodation at Travelodge Shrewsbury Battlefield with evening meal at the Brewers Fayre next door to Hotel

DS3GB Itinerary:
Friday - Remote Service @ Newtown / Sweet Lamb Rally Fest
Saturday - Chirk Castle Rally Fest / Deeside Rally Service Park
Sunday - Kimnel Rally Fest / Ceremonial Finish @ Llandudno
